What Causes Dysplasia?

Dysplasia of the cervix occurs when you get an infection usually caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). In addition, if your immune system is suppressed or deteriorated and you smoke a great deal of cigarettes, you may increase your risks of getting dysplasia. The HPV is often transmitted during sexual contact and if left untreated it may lead to cervical cancer and genital warts. For more information see here:
