What are Two Types of Fermentation?

The two most common types of fermentation are that of alcohol and lactic acid. The alcohol fermentation process is caused by bacterias and yeasts. This process yields carbon dioxide and ethanol as waste products. Products such as beer, wine, and bread are a result of alcohol fermentation. Lactic acid fermentation is completed by bacteria like those found in yogurt, fungi, and even our muscles when necessary. The sour taste in yogurt is caused by the lactic acid it contains. When we use our muscles and our body can’t supply them with enough oxygen quickly enough, they will produce lactic acid. The lactic acid in our muscles is what causes them to be sore the next day after an intense work out. Once muscles develop the our bodies simply dispose of the lactic acid.
