What are the Symptoms of Strep Throat?

Strep throat usually begins with a sudden, severe sore throat, making it painful or difficult to swallow. In addition, one can expect to see white or yellow spots on the throat (and tonsils, if you still have them), as well as a bright red throat and spots on the roof of the mouth near the back of the throat. Colorful, but definitely not pretty! Add a fever of over 101 degrees and it could be strep.
