What are the Different Stages of Sleep?

There are 5 stages of sleep. The stages are called 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM. You drift in and out in 1, your brain waves become slower in 2. Your brain waves slow down even more in stage 3 and is considered deep sleep, which you also experience in stage 4. Once in REM, breathing is more rapid, your eyes jerk and your limb muscles become paralyzed.
