What are Bar Codes?

Barcodes are the lines with a number at the beginning and end and below on a product. This lines are read by a barcode scanner which can be used for inventory purposes. Stores like Wal-Mart use barcoding system for two reasons, one it lessens theft by changing price tags because the prices are recorded into the computer, and two Wal-Mart knows sold at the moment it was sold and this information is relayed to the warehouse which is pulling the items to be restock. The bar code system helps track inventory, sales and cuts down on the amount of thefts.
