Flooding is nature’s most deadly force, resulting in more deaths than any other disaster. Flash floods are the most dangerous type of flood, since heavy rains produce unexpected water rising in low lying areas. Slow onset flooding occurs as a river or other large body of water rises in response to heavy rains.
