Whether or not you should be paid for a holiday at work is dependent on your benefits structure. If your company pays for holidays then yes you should be paid for the holiday. If you had to work on the holiday you may be eligible for holiday pay plus regular pay. I would check your employee handbook which would outline payments for holidays and who is eligible. Some companies will give a another day off for the holiday you worked. Other companies policy is that if the business needs you to work on the holiday then you are entitled to no additional compensation or days off because of business needs. Your company handbook is your best answer.
