Main Parts of a Sentence?

A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. There are declarative, interrogative and imperative sentences. The simple sentence must contain a subject, which is the what or whom of the sentence and a verb or predicate which shows or tells the action of the subject. Other parts may include a phrase (which is a part of the sentence that has neither a subject nor a verb and makes no sense alone) or a clause (which contains a subject and a verb and can be independent or dependent).
