Is Sea Salt Healthier than Regular Salt?

Table salt and sea salt both contain sodium, an essential nutrient that our body needs to function. However, the American diet is high in sodium and this can result in hypertension and undue stress to kidney function. Sea salt has a pure flavor and is preferred by most gourmet chefs. It does not contain iodine, another essential nutrient, but most Americans consume an abundance of foods prepared with table salt and this should not pose a health risk for the average person. The major difference in sea salt versus table salt will be taste and texture.
