Is Puerto Rico a Us State?

Living in Puerto Rico does not mean that you live in one of the 50 US states. In fact, you live in one of the few US territories such as Guam, America Samoa and the US Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico is a commonwealth that has its own government in association with the United States, and has power over its own internal affairs. Residents of Puerto Rico have US citizenship but they do not vote in the US Presidential elections.
