How was Krypton Discovered?

Krypton was discovered by Travers and Ramsay in 1898 while they were doing a fractional distillation hoping to isolate neon. Both neon and krypton were undiscovered at the time. While performing the purification they noticed a yellow color that was not characteristic of helium or sodium. It was named krypton from the Greek word for ‘hidden’ due to how it was discovered.
