Whether or not to tell ones parents one is gay can be a difficult decision. Often if the parents are particularly negative about homosexuality it might be best to wait until one is out of the household first. If it is important to get it off ones chest than honesty can be the best policy. Be open and direct, aware that there may be some negative repercussions, and patient with the questions that are sure to follow. Remember that this is probably a new idea to them, they’ve not had time to get used to it like their homosexual child has.
