How to Start An Organization?

You’ll want to do a considerable amount of homework before getting started. Step 1: Figure out your organization’s mission statement. Will it be for profit or non-profit? Will you be eligible for tax breaks or a 501c3 status? Who will you serve? Why? Decide on your budget and plan for all expenses within the first 2-3 years of operation. Develop a marketing budget and marketing plan. Will you have a website? Consider the costs of mailings and special events to build up your business. Prepare yourself for a lot of paperwork and make sure you research local laws for small businesses. Keep your books airtight and consider hiring an outside set of eyes to make sure your accounts are on track and that taxes are being appropriately handled. Step 2: Open your doors.
