The way to start a campfire that will burn safe and efficiently is to built it in a A-shape. First clear a circle and if possible place large stones around the circle so you can tell if any sparks fly. Be sure that all grass, leaves etc are clear from this space. Place small twigs and a paper starter in the center. Layer larger pieces of stick and brush over the small pile and continue to stack. Light the bottom layer, when it begins to burn steadily, add more pieces. Eventually the larger twigs will set fire to the largest (top) pieces. As always be sure to be safe, have a bucket of sand nearby and be aware of your surroundings and wind. Be sure to fully extinguish your flame before you go!
