How to Solve Ratios?

Ratios usually compare two numbers. For example 3:4, 3 to 4, and 3/4 are ratios. When you need to solve ratios or ratio problems, all you need to do is cross multiply and compare. For example, to see if 1/2 is equivalent to 10/20, set up the ratio 1/2= 10/20, then cross multiply 1×20=2×10. Since these are equal then these are equivalent ratios. To solve a ratio that involves an unknown, you would do the same operations and solve for the unknown (EX. 1/2= N/20, 20×1=2xN, N=2)
