How to Reformat?

The first thing you need to ask yourself when reformatting, is are you really, really sure you want to because, unless you back up all of your important files onto another drive, you will loose everything. If you are sure that you want, or need to reformat follow these steps, back up anything you don’t want to loose, and then disconnect your computer from any networks, once that is done, insert your Windows CD and reboot your computer, it should either ask you if you want to boot from your CD, which would be yes, or automatically boot from your CD depending on your boot settings, the next question will be do you want to set up Windows, or repair, you need to click set up, read all the boring license agreements and press F8 to accept them, if you are asked again if you’d like to repair, hit the ESC key to begin a full format, next it will ask you where you want to install Windows, highlight the existing C: Partition 1 partition and press D to delete it then press L to confirm, next step is to press the ENTER key to install Windows on the fresh unpartitioned space, format the space as an NTFS and continue the installation. It may take a while, so you don’t have to sit and watch it, but do check often as you may need to answer a few questions like time zone, do you want a password, and other, normal set up questions. Once the installation is complete, your hard drive has been formated and you have a nice squeaky clean version of Windows to play with.
