Well, if you must! Remember, you can always just spit them out! Here goes, first if using a knife,wash the cherries, removing the stems. Use a small knife to cut cherries in half. Pull out the pits with your fingers, (Please be sure to wash your hands)! Now, if using a cherry pitter, again wash the cherries, remove the stems,hold the pitter in your hand with disc portion on top and the spike on the top. Now squeeze the pitter, the spike will go through the cherry and this will force the pit out. Personally if you ask me, which you did! I prefer the hand method, however,if you need to use a more technical answer when asked by the family ‘how did you pit these cherries?’, then by all means go with the pitter method.
