To pan fry steak, choose a cut such as rib eye or T-bone. Add about 2 tablespoons of oil to a pan and heat to medium high. Steaks should not be very cold but take them out of the refrigerator no more than an hour before cooking, Season with salt and pepper and place steaks in hot pan. Cook to desired level of doneness. Unless you like well done steak, this type of steak should not be over cooked. For a one inch steak about 3 minutes per side is good. You can finish the cooking in a 400 degree oven if more doneness is desired.
