Gum paste-making is a lot like making fondant, only gum paste is more flexible and is easier to form. To make gum paste you’ll need ingredients like shortening, confectioner’s sugar, corn flour, and gum tagacanth. The ingredients are mixed together in a mixer, then heated and blended in the mixer again. The paste has to be refrigerated for 24 hours before it can be used. The paste will be really stiff, but it will become pliable from the warmth of your hands.
