You will need 2 cups of fresh pitted cherries, 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 2 tbsp. of cornstarch. In a saucepan, cook cherries in water for 10 minutes. While cherries are cooking, mix together sugar and cornstarch. After cherries and cornstarch are mixed, add to the cherries. Cook the cherry mixture until it is thick. Cool sightly before adding to an pie shell.
