A butter cream icing is an easy cake icing to make. First, take 1/3 cup of butter and beat with a mixer until fluffy. Slowly, add 2 cups of powdered sugar and beat until well mixed. Add 1/4 cup of milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and beat slowly. Then, add another 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and mix until all lumps are smooth. If needed, add a little more milk if too thick.
