I make pinto beans all the time. The easiest way I’ve found is to put the amount I want in the crock pot with water and add an envelope of Lipton Onion Soup. About half way through, I add raw chopped up bacon and large chunks of onion. Let it continue cooking on high and about 4 hours later, it’s ready to eat. If you are concerned about the fat from the bacon, cook and drain the bacon before you add it to the beans.
