How to Make Arrow Heads?

In order to make arrow heads, you will need to acquire a few materials before beginning this project. You will need to obtain: Ishi sticks, safety goggles, some kind of thick denim in order to create a cover for the arrow heads, notchers, flakers, and abraiding stone. The first step in making arrow heads is to palce the leather palm and cover your hand in order to protect your hands. Also make sure that you have your safety goggles on and in place to protect your eyes during the creation process. The second step in making arrow heads is to take the piece of material that you wish to work with within your hand. This item may be stone, bone, or wood. The third step in making arrow heads is to create rough edges with the abraiding stone. The fourth step in making arrow heads is to take your flaking tool and apply pressure to the inside edge of the material that you are making your arrow head with. Make sure that you have even flakes coming off of the material. The fifth step in making arrow heads is to take the ishi sticks and make deeper cuts within the material that you are making your arrow head with. This time, don’t apply pressure within the material. Instead, make an inward and downward motion with the sticks in order to flake off bigger chunks of the material. Again, make sure that your flakes are completely even. The sixth step in creating an arrow head is to repeat this process until the arrow head is in the appearance that you would like it to be. The final step in making an arrow head is to take your notching device and notch the sides of the bottom of your arrow head.
