Having an ingrown toenail is not only annoying, but painful as well. To get rid of one is to first soak your foot in salted, warm water twice a day which would reduce the swelling. Then apply antiseptic to the area such as peroxide to prevent infection. Once you have did that, place some cotton gently underneath the ingrown toenail so that it will raise it some. Put antibacterial ointment on the ingrown toenail to prevent further infection. You should continue these steps repeatedly until the toenail has come away from the cuticle. If it is too painful for you to remove yourself, then you should consult you doctor for further treatment.
