The internet is a great tool for research, but it is important to find quality, reputable sites. Just because a website is at the top of a search engine does not mean it is a good site. Many of those sites have paid for placement or put false information in the background of the site. A good website will ‘look’ nice. Information will be presented in a way that is easy to understand and navigate. Pages in the site should work and be up to date. If the website is for transmitting secure data – like shopping, banking or personal information – the address should include https: to tell you the site is safe. Most importantly, use your gut when evaluating a website. If it looks suspicious, move on to another site.
