It is not as easy as it sounds to do a short sale on your property. First you must contact your mortgage lender to even find out if they do short sales. Then you should meet with your real estate lawyer and they can walk you through all of steps you must take to get through the sale as quickly and smoothly as possible; these steps include, but are not limited to: completion of a hardship letter, income/asset proof, bank statement copies, and a purchase or listing agreement.
