Burping a baby can be done with ease with a few different positions. The most popular would be the over the should hold. Take your baby, place them on your shoulder, head just at your shoulder and place one hand on their bottom to hold them up, the other firmly on their back. Pat the back with a semi-firm pat. Depending on your baby, this can take a few minutes. Should that work, you can move on to the lap position. Place your baby across your lap/knees with their tummy down. Again, pat semi-firmly. You can also use a small leg bounce in this action to help the little one along. This is very good for a fussy or colic baby. You would want to have a receiving blanket or cloth diaper on your shoulder / knee for either one of these or you could have a surprise to clean up!
