Typically a priest becomes ordained by first obtaining a bachelor’s degree in something that will enhance their work as a minister/priest. This degree is usually something in psychology, philosophy, or even world religions or humanities. They will then typically begin the Seminary very shortly upon college graduation. Seminary will generally take about four years, and this is the priest’s training. After joining the seminary, priests will become deacons for a number of months (usually about six months or so), and then they are reviewed and given an internship. Once they are accepted, they will take an oath or vow, and will enter the priesthood.
