How to Become a Bishop?

In order to become a bishop you must first be an ordained Catholic priest. Priests are chosen by existing Bishops to be recommended to the Archbishop as a candidate worthy of becoming a Bishop. Once the candidates have been chosen, the Congregation for Bishops vote on each candidate, attach a recommedation to each candidates record, then send the information onto the Pope, who will then make the final decision as to which candidates he will appoint to become a new Bishop.
