Alimony payments vary from state to state and case to case. Generally speaking, one spouse only needs to pay alimony when the other spouse was dependent on the other spouse for support for a long time. If you both worked and earned close to the same, there likley will be no alimony. If you was married for 20 years and your spouse never worked, you will have to support her/him close to how you did during the marriage. Child support is different than alimony.
