Series EE Savings Bonds mature according to when they were issued. If issued between March 1993 and April 1995, the term is 18 years. Bonds issued between May 1995 and May 2003 mature in 17 years, and bonds issued between June 2003 to present are set for a 20-year maturity cycle. Obviously, one must possess a great deal of patience to place one’s money in savings bonds.
