How Long do Kidney Stones Last?

The length of time that a kidney stone stays in your body is going to depend on a few things. The size of the stone is the first thing. You could have a bunch of stones, all of them being really small, and you pass them without even knowing it. But if you have a large stone and it’s too big to pass, then it will take longer, causing you pain and discomfort. I had a kidney stone after I had my son and I had attacks for about 4 months before they finally did surgery to remove it. They thought that it was small enough to pass on it’s own, but after I went that long without it going anywhere, they decided to take it out. If you have a stone, I would suggest talking to your doctor or a urologist to find out if it’s something that could need to be surgically removed or if it will pass on it’s own.
