How is Tuberculosis Treated?

Depending on the type tuberculosis a patient has will determine the treatment. Active tuberculosis is usually treated with a combination of four antibiotics which usually takes about 6 months but can require up to 9 months. It is extremely important for the patient to follow the dosing instructions for the antibiotics and not miss a dose. If the patient has latent tuberculosis the treatment is usually done with just one antibiotic. The patient must follow the same strict dosing requirements for the active tuberculosis with missing a dose.
