Rock candy is made with a simple sugar water solution. Use twice as much sugar as water, food coloring, and flavored extract. Slowly add the sugar to boiling water, letting it dissolve and come back to a boil between additions. Remove pan from heat and add color and flavor and pour into a clean and dry glass jar. Tie a string to the center of a pencil, coat the string with sugar and weigh down in jar with a paperclip. Cover jar with a towel and set in a cool, dark place. You should see crystals forming on the string within a few hours. Allow the crystals to grow to the desired size, remove and enjoy.
