How does Small Claims Court Work?

Small claims court is different in each state and county. There will be limits for the value you can take to small claims court ranging from $1,000 (or less) to $5,000. You go to the claim office, normally in county hall, and file a claim. This means you fill out a form that explains the dispute or claim (there will be a fee about $15 or so). The other party has to be a local resident or business. The court will set up a date and give both side a chance to present case and they will make decision. To find more information click here:
