How does Electricity Get to my House?

The journey electricity takes to get to your house is not a very exciting one but here goes. Electricity is produced at a power station and sent through a series of transformers to step its voltage up for transmission over wire. The electricity travels to a sub station in or near the city you live in where its voltage is stepped down to a lower level. Once the electricity reaches your home it passes through one last transformer where its voltage is brought down again to a usable level. From there it goes right into your home.
