How does An Oil Rig Work?

First, a geologist chooses a site believed to contain an oil reserve. The rig is assembled over the spot and a tiny hole is drilled to start the well. The drill itself is a large bit attached to a length of pipe. Drilling begins while pumping a lubricant through the pipe to help clear out the hole. If a reserve is hit, a production pipe is placed in the hole to extract the oil.
