How does a MP3 Work?

The MP3 format is a simple compression system for audio, just like a .gif is a compression format for images, and a .zip is a compression format for different file types. Although you lose some quality as opposed to the CD’s format, it is not very noticeable, yet it takes the file size from (as an example) 32 MB down to 3MB, allowing you to store much more music on your computer’s hard drive!
