How does a Jet Engine Work?

A jet engine can be broken down simply into two series of fans. The first set of fans are the compressors that take in a massive amount of air and compresses it into a burn chamber. In the burn chamber the compressed air is mixed with fuel and ignited. The hot, compressed air expands and turns the second set of fans called the turbines. The turbines are connected to a shaft that drives the compressors.
