How do You Make Silk?

Silk comes from the cocoon of a silkworm. The silkworms are cultivated and grown on farms. The cocoons are put through a series of hot and cold baths, in order to soften the gummy substance that holds the silk filaments together. Once that process in complete, the silk filaments are unwound and combined together to make raw silk. The raw silk is then reeled into skeins and shipped to silk mills.
