An easy icing to make from scratch is a butter cream icing. First, take 1/3 cup of butter and beat with a mixer until fluffy. Slowly add 2 cups of powdered sugar and beat until well mixed. Add 1/4 cup of milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and beat slowly. Then add another 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and mix until all lumps are out. If too thick, add a little more milk.
