How do You Make Cookies from Scratch?

The easiest cookies to make from scratch are sugar cookies. You will need: 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 cup softened butter, 1 1/2 cups white sugar, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and baking powder. In another large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Then beat in the egg and vanilla. Then gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoons of the dough and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let them stand couple of minutes before putting them on a wire rack to cool.
