How do You Make Butterscotch?

Butterscotch is always a favorite around the holidays and as a little treat everyday. If you want to make butterscotch get a sauce pan and place 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup corn syrup, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsp water, 2 tbsp vinegar, and also 1 tsp vanilla. Place the pot on the burner and warm the mixture over medium heat. Melt the butter and sugar all the way then reduce the heat until your mixture comes to a medium boil. With a spatula stir and scrape any mixture off of the sides. Then you want to heat the mixture until it is at the temperature of 300 degrees on a candy thermometer. Put aluminum foil on a cookie sheet and cover with butter, Pour the mixture onto the sheet and cool slightly. Score the mixture so it looks like little square and cool completely.
