Ballistics gel is made at home using gelatin and water. A good formula for this is 1 pound of gelatin powder to one gallon of water. Stir the powder into the water carefully, trying not to add too much air to the mixture. Next place in the refrigerator for 2 hours. After this you will need to melt the gelatin into the water. This is easily accomplished by putting the pot of gelatin and water on top of another pot of hot water. Use a thermometer, and try and not let the gelatin get over 130 degrees, while mixing carefully. The final step will be adding your gelatin to the molds and allowing it to chill for 36 hours.
