To jumpstart a car you will need a set of jumper cables and a second vehicle that runs. With both vehicles turned off, connect the red cable ends to the positive posts on each battery. Then, connect the black cables to the negative posts on each battery. Always make sure that the red and black cable ends do not touch to prevent sparking and vehicle damage. Once the cables are connected, start the car with the good battery and then attempt to start the car needing jumping. If it will not start immediately, wait a few moments. Once the car starts, remove both negative cables followed by both positive cables.
