How do You Copyright Music?

According to copyright law, music, artwork, and literature is automatically copyrighted once the work is produced in a tangible medium. This means, that once the piece of work is written, painted, created, or recorded in such a way that makes the item permanent and accessible, it is automatically copyrighted by its creator. If one wants to formally register their work with for additional protection, it is suggested that one hires a copyright and patent attorney, or file the work themselves and follow the guidelines provided by the United States Copyright Office.
