How do Ovulation Tests Work?

An ovulation test works by measuring the amount of a luteinizing hormone that is present in your body. When you get close to ovulating, your body gives off a very large amount of this hormone. So when the test reads at high levels, that means you’re going to ovulate anywhere from 12 to 36 hours from that point. Women who are trying to conceive often use these tests to increase their chances of pregnancy soon after starting to try conceiving.
